Ursula Michel left her home in Germany in August Protected content , on one of the last Kindertransports. Her parents and her younger sister Lilli were unable to leave, and in April Protected content deported to Poland. In December Protected content Rhodes, daughter of Ursula Michel, applied to the International Tracing Service in Germany, to enquire for any information on the precise place(s) and date(s) of death of her grandparents and her young aunt Lilli. It seemed that Lilli had survived her deportation, married after the war and went to America in Protected content
Judith Rhodes, the daughter of Ursula Michel, describes the bewildering discoveries that were made over 7 decades later. Her talk is preceded by a short film which tells the story of her mother’s own experiences.
