Given the fine and warm weather, at least this Saturday, is anyone up for a last minute hike? This one is one of the most famous autumn hikes in Lombardia, since it features two lakes (Mezzola and Como), two remote valleys (Codera and Ratti) and a railway that was built in the mountain 90 years ago, to allow the two valleys to communicate.. and yet we still have to try it. It also features plenty of chestnut trees and an ancient hamlet dedicated to S.George.

Since it's the last weekend with daylight saving time, is anyone up for hiking tomorrow on the Novate Mezzola-Verceia trail and along the "Tracciolino" railway, as described on
Protected content ?
(or Protected content )

According to the "100 ideas to breathe" book, hike features Protected content of elevation gain and takes around 3,5 hours. In truth, as we'll very likely be slower than the book writer, I guess it will take us one extra hour to get to Verceia.

Train-wise, let's catch

MILANO CENTRALE 10: Protected content 12:17

For coming back, there's either

VERCEIA 17: Protected content CENTRALE 19:40
or
VERCEIA 19: Protected content CENTRALE 21:40

Remember that you can save some money, by buying the "Io Viaggio In Lombardia" day ticket Protected content

Also, please bring some food, as the idea is to start hiking right away, so as to reach the hamlet of San Giorgio for lunch break.

Last but not least, bring a flashlight if you have it!
