The Red Train festival strikes back, on the Albula Line
Exactly one year ago, the Rhaetian railway was celebrating 10 years, since it earned Unesco Heritage status. It did it, by launching a special ticket and throwing a party with train parades, interactive exhibitions, food and live music entertainment.
One year later, the festival of the red train is back: it won't be as big as last year, nevertheless they'll still have special tickets, that allow users to travel on the Albula line, from Chur to Bergun, for half price (i.e. by buying a one-way ticket, you'll return for free, provided you find the officer that places a special stamp on your ticket)
Since last year we travelled along the Bernina line, it seems like the time is right for trying the Albula line (which offers feats of engineering, such as the Landwasser Viaduct). The idea then is to spend a weekend in the Graubunden canton, catch the red train on Sunday (or on the best day weatherwise) and have a hike on Saturday. Providing live entertainment will be the street artist festival in Chur ( Protected content ), while for sleeping Bad Ragaz is our pick.
