With autumn under way and a favourable weather forecast, is anyone up for returning to lake Lugano on Sunday, to hike to one of its most scenic mountain peaks? Towering at a height of Protected content , Mt Boglia is said to offer sweeping views over Lake Lugano, the Alps with Mt Rosa and even the Apennine Mountains. Plan is to try reach the cross at the peak of Mt Boglia by hiking along a loop from Villa Luganese, as described at: Protected content . Hike takes around 4,5 hours and is rated as T2 (intermediate).

Should you prefer, there's also this alternative route, from Mt Bre to Villa Luganese:
Protected content
that is slightly shorter as it has less elevation gain, but is steeper.

Should the weather turn out to be less sunny and more cloudy, we'll definitely take route #2, as it crosses chestnut and beech woods and offers us more chances to soak in the colors of autumn, without having to reach the peak of Mt Boglia.

How to reach Villa Luganese:

Let's catch 7:43 Milano Centrale - Lugano 8:58, followed by one of many buses to Villa Luganese. Ticket-wise, it's best to buy Milano-Chiasso on Trenitalia and Chiasso-Villa Luganese-Chiasso on SBB. This way we'll have a day ticket from Chiasso to Lugano region and we'll be able to easily swap Villa Luganese with Bre, should the weather conditions or our adventurous spirit suggest doing so.
