Ready to Join?

Let's say good bye Summer with an adventurous journey on the North Sea mud flats. Experience the uniqueness of the Wadden Sea National Park (declared World Heritage Site since Protected content UNESCO) and join us in a english-guided hiking tour from Cuxhaven (Sahlenburger beach) to Neuwerk Island (only accesible by foot during low tide).

The meeting point is Sahlenburg Rescue Station (Cuxhaven). The hiking starts from there at 9:00 a.m. (the hiking time is restricted because the low-tide time, so be punctual!).

For that train connection a Regional train ticket up to 5 people (Niedersachsen ticket) can be acquired from the DB machines in the train station. This ticket is valid during the entire day (including the return from Cuxhaven Hbf to Bremen Hbf). For those travelling by train from Bremen, meet atProtected content Please, consider this connection the only one which allows to be on time for the mud hiking.

If you arrive by car, please consider that our starting point is not the same ending point. It's recommended then to find a parking place near the Protected content

From there a taxi service can be booked for the entire group, so we can reach Sahlenburg before 9:00 a.m.

The ferry from Neuwerk back to Cuxhaven port departs at 16:30 from the island, and tickets must be bought well in advance here:

IMPORTANT!!... having a booked ferry ticket is mandatory to take part on this activity, since that is the only way to come back from Neuwerk island at that time. Please, book your ticket in advance if you want to sign up for this activity (20,- EUR p.P). In case of doubt you can contact me.

The estimated arrival at Cuxhaven port is 18:30. The next train connection departs from Cuxhaven Hbf at 19:39 and arrives Bremen Hbf at 21:35 (Regional train day ticket is still valid).

The guidance and has a cost of 10,- EUR per person. That can be paid at start.
Ferry ticket, 20,- EUR per person. Book your ticket in advance in the website described before.


The hiking on the mud is 10 km long (about 3,5 hours). On Neuwerk Island you can find restaurant, restrooms, changing rooms and washing sinks. For hiking you should use bathingshoes or sturdy old shoes, and socks. Don't go barefoot and be ready to get muddy. It's recommended to carry-on as well:

- Sun cream, sun glasses
- Head cap
- Changing clothes.
- Wind / rain jacket
- Drink water
- Hand towel
- Snacks
