Martin Luther King cycling tour through Berlin
Martin Luther King Jr. visited Berlin from September 12 to 14, Protected content . He had been invited to speak at a ceremony commemorating the assassinated US president John F. Kennedy. A year earlier, JFK had given his famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech to an audience of 120,000 on the steps of Rathaus Schöneberg.
We'll cycle from Rathaus Schöneberg through Kreuzberg and Mitte to places that King visited - including two churches, where he spoke to East Berliners.
If you like flea markets, come earlier and check out the one in front of Rathaus Schöneberg. Just don't miss our departure! ;-)
The distance we'll cycle will be roughly 12 km. Please make sure you wear suitable clothes, so that you're prepared for a bit of rain and that driver's can see you.
Those who want can stay for some food and/or drinks afterwards. It's difficult to guess how much time we'll take for the ride, as it depends on traffic, weather etc., but we'll certainly arrive before it gets dark.
