Ready to Join?

Join us for a picnic on Ward's Island Beach. This is the last long weekend of the summer, with good weather predicted, so lets make the most of it. Ward's Island is the lesser known of the Toronto Islands, and are largely occupied by local residents. The beach is usually less busy than other beaches (hence the choice). The limit for this activity has been set at 25 as permits are required for larger groups. However, if you are in the area, do drop by to say hello :)

Getting There: The Ferry costs $7.71 per person, and you can purchase tickets at the Terminal OR online at Protected content

You can reach the Ferry Terminal (9 Queens Quay W, Toronto, ON M5J 2H3), from Union Station by taking the TTC Protected content 510 from Union Station, or by the TTC Protected content Spadina (embark at Queens Quay stop). Or you can just walk from Union Station (its not far!!).  If you chose to drive to the Ferry Terminal, parking is LIMITED and EXPENSIVE (check Protected content ), and you are better off taking the TTC if you can. Make sure that you are on the 'Ward's Island Ferry', as there are three routes. Once you have landed on the Island, walk from the Ferry stop to the beach on the South side of the Islands.

What To Bring: Bring your own picnic lunch and drinks (Alcoholic drinks are NOT allowed on the beach, and you may be fined by patrolling police officers). There are two SMALL cafes that sell a limited selection of food and drinks. Bring a beach towel or mat if you think you need one. Bring beach games, frisbees, beach balls etc. Bring a music player!!

What To Wear: The weather is predicted to be great (until around 7pm), so dress for the beach. Swimming is allowed on the beach. Bring sunscreen if you normally use this.

Afterwards, for those who wish to stay back, we can walk towards Center Island and have a beer at the BBQ and Beer Bar. A hike to Hanlan's point is another option, but there is a music festival, so this may not be fully accessible.
