Israeli&American dynamic musical space at the folk life museum.
Roy Ben Yosef Timianker, Peyton Pleninger and David Michaeli, are pleased to present you the Work in progress show
Moringa’s musical language is based on the mingling of middle eastern and Mediterranean folk music in a deeply rooted American improvised music context. The meeting of the two Israeli-born musicians with the American saxophonist creates a dynamic musical space which blossoms with fresh rhythms and lush, contemplative musical dialogue. One of Moringa’s most interesting traits is its small-scale format, which gives it the ability to take on a shifting modular approach, both with respect to pure musical information, as well as with respect to concert format and orchestration. The band hopes to act as a hub while in Thessaloniki, to connect with local musicians, mixing and matching new players to open a cross-cultural dialogue between the trio and Greek folk musicians. Moringa can share their repertoire of music, while absorbing traditional Greek melodies and rhythms to create a more global approach to their music.
