Stay Alive at All Costs? Or Fight for Freedom at Any Cost?

Join us for a film that comes to us from Zambia, Africa. "I Am not a Witch" Protected content Rungano Nyoni's first feature film, a brave cinematic debut that boldly poses the dilemma of female emancipation: To stay alive at all costs? Or fight for freedom at any cost?
An insignificant everyday incident in a village in Zambia, Africa results in the confinement of an eight-year-old orphaned girl in a concentration camp for witches in the middle of the desert. In this camp, which is somewhere between an orphanage, a prison and a tourist attraction, the girl is forced to stay tied with a long white ribbon to a tree - or she is threatened with being magically transformed into a rabbit. After personal experiential research and a long stay in a corresponding camp, a brave first-time director opens up the issue of women's emancipation.
