FIRST DAY OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

This week we hike the Laurel Canyon Trail (and a few others) for a loop about 7 miles in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

Dogs are not allowed on the trails and there is no reliable source of water once we get going, so please bring sufficient water for a 3 hour hike (and a snack should you feel you need one).

This is a recurring activity where we explore the many hiking trails in the area. Over time we have short Protected content , medium ( Protected content ) and long (>9 miles) hikes, so there is something to enjoy for everybody. The trails are generally not paved, often rutted out and gravelly in places, and at times steep, but usually good to walk in hiking or trail running shoes (please no flip flops or similarly loose footwear).

The trails are mostly multi-use, so watch for mountain bikers and, possibly, horses. There is also a chance of wild life sightings including but not limited to rabbits, squirrels, deer and mountain lions (the park office asks visitors to notify them only of the latter but I personally haven't seen any except at the zoo).

Please get to the meeting point 5 to 10 minutes early so we can all meet, get organized and review the route. We will leave by 8:05. If you run late, please text me so we can see if you may be able to catch up.

If you have an annual pass parking is free (see website for more info on this), else it costs $3. There are no other costs.

Rain or postxrain park closure cancels. But unless explicitly canceled on the activity wall, the hike is on.

See you all there! :)
