Franz Kafka's "Metamorphosis"
It is difficult to escape the harrowing atmosphere created by Franz Kafka’s art of writing. What makes it so exceptional within his generation of modernists like Proust and Joyce is its chilling apprehension of the totalitarian horror of the 20th century. On behalf of the Prague Books Group it is my privilege to invite you to an online discussion on one of Kafka’s greatest masterpieces, his Metamorphosis Protected content . At the centre of this short story is the curious case of Gregor Samsa who one morning “found himself changed into a monstrous cockroach”. The strange, unreal and grotesque narrative set in motion by this fantastic event eerily shows the absurdity and alienation of our late modern existence.
The “Metamorphosis” is available online in English translation on a website dedicated to Kafka’s work: Protected content
