Discovering Pyrenees' hidden jewels: Fou Canyon & Artigas Garden
At this time of the summer the temperatures invite more than ever to enjoy refreshing experiences, don’t they? The Pyrenees are the best area to look for outdoor fresh activities, and there we go!
In a full day road trip, we will discover some hidden spots which are actually unknown by many locals, each of which has its own kind of charm.
First, we will drive till Castellar de N’Hug (1.45h), a beautiful village in the Pyrenees, where to have some breakfast tasting some of their typical “giant croissants”. After this first break, we will head for La Pobla de Lillet Protected content where to visit the “Artigas Gardens”, designed by Gaudi. You will enjoy some of the typical imaginative shapes and designs we have seen in other sites, but in a fresh environment surrounded by mountains.
Once this visit is done, we will head for Camprodon (1h), a nice town in the foothills of the eastern Pyrenees, where to have lunch and stroll around the village old streets. FOR LUNCH YOU CAN EITHER BRING YOUR OWN OR GO TO A RESTAURANT
After Camprodon, we will cross the border towards Prats de Molló and Arles (1h), where we will find the Fou Canyon (Gorges de la Fou, in French), one of the narrowest canyons worldwide, which is barely 1,5km long, but will entertain our senses and help us forget about the heat we are currently getting used to. So long as we walk the canyon back and forth this will take nearly 2 hours overall.
After the Fou Canyon, we will drive back to Barcelona (2.30h)
