The Tarragona Human Tower Competition is an event carried out by the best teams in the country and it is held every two years. One of the main attractions of this event is the fact that it is the only day of the season that all the towers are scored on difficulty. This fact means that the leading teams compete against each other for first place in the final classification. Nevertheless, all the participating teams find the Competition the best event to try out their best constructions.

Nearly 6.000 spectators enjoy the most important tower building event, which also enjoys wide coverage in the Catalan media and, ever more frequently, in international media. In short, the Human Tower Competition is a first class event and a magnificent opportunity to enjoy human tower building, an example of Catalan culture declared Cultural and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. You may read further information at Protected content (there is English and Spanish version).

Concerning Tarragona city, this used to be the capital of the Iberian Peninsula when it was under the Roman Empire, and so it boasts many Roman remains such an amphitheatre, the wall, an aqueduct, a circus, etc.

PLANNING: We will meet in the first wagon of the Regional Express train heading for Madrid departing at 9h.03 from Sants Estacio. You may get on the train in one of the previous stations (Estacio de Franca departing at 8.34 or Passeig de Gracia departing 8.52) up to your convenience. Bear in mind that this train is likely to be a bit full, so getting on in a previous station is rather a good idea. Feel free to take another train also. If so, you can join us in Tarragona for the Guided visit at 11h in Baixada del Roser, 8. You may buy the train ticket online (better, in case you are short of time on arrival at the train station) at Protected content

As soon as we arrive to Tarragona we will go to take a walk towards the old town and take a coffee. At 11h there is the option to take a Guided tour (2h 15min) throughout the whole old town and the Roman remains of the city. The Guided visit is in SPANISH, costs 9.50EURO and has to be purchased online at least 5 days in advance at the following link: Protected content (check also all the details of the visit)

After the Guided visit we will go for lunch (feel free to bring your lunch from home if you want to) and then to the Tarraco Arena for the Human Tower contest show, starting at 16h 30, and to be finished around 22h (although you can leave before the end).
After the show we can go for dinner or just directly back to Barcelona, at your choice. There are plenty of trains till midnight, as you can check in the same link for purchasing the train ticket.

If you want to purchase another train to join us later in Tarragona or you want already to purchase the ticket to come back, bear in mind that there are two train stations in Tarragona (City station and Camp de Tarragona, a few km outside the town) and only the Regional, Regional Express, Talgo, Intercity and Euromed trains stop in Tarragona City station. The rest (High-speed trains: AVE, AVANT and ALVIA) stop in Camp de Tarragona, less convenient.
