Warsaw InterNational theatre group (Shoroom)
Let us take you on a journey of magnificent artistry where love is the protagonist. No words can describe this force, only movements, dance, and gestures. Love expresses itself with its own language, the language of silence, mystery, and inner tension.
This extraordinary play draws inspiration from a Persian tragic romance by the poet Nizami Ganjavi ( Protected content ), “Khosrow and Shirin”. It tells a highly elaborate fictional version of the love story between the Sasanian king Khosrow II and the Armenian princess Shirin, who later became the queen of Persia.
The subjects of love, lust, covetousness, power, homicide, loneliness and suffering are as timeless as theatre itself and go back to the tradition of ancient Greek tragedies. The Shoroom theatre group performs Shirin in the form of physical theatre, with no dialogues, which makes this play highly emotional and truly international. Spectators will be enchanted by the movements, music, and expressions of the artists. Traditional Iranian dance movements and Kurdish traditional music from Iran (the area that witnessed the unfolding of the drama, long ago) will accompany us through this riveting story.
