Coffee theme dinner "North Africa, the home of Coffee".
Once again, the coffee dinner is upon us and this time the theme is "North Africa, the home of Coffee".
Tina and Parma from Viva Victoria restaurant have invited us to come and partake of a of a specially prepared menu of dishes drawn from the spiritual home of Coffee, North Africa.
For those that are unaware, Coffee is believed to have originated in Ethiopia when Sheppards noticed that their goats became very frisky after eating the fruit of a small bush high in the mountains and so tried the berries themselves and discovered the wonders of caffeine. Wanting to make some money from these wonder berries but not lose control, the sheppards in a effort to prevent others from growing the plants, roasted the berries before selling and so coffee was born and was traded widely across North Africa .
Tina has drawn inspiration from this to prepare our menu:
Housemade Pita with
BabaGhannouj, Hummus & Muhammara
Ras el hanout Roast Chicken
With Rice Pilaf and Steamed asparagus
Lamb Shank Tagine
Mashed potatoes and Tabbouleh
Harrisa Spiced Sea Bass
Pan fried sea bass in Harrisa rose petal sauce, served with Cous Cous and braised Swiss Chard
with Chickpea Cous Cous
Malva Pudding With Custard
Beer and wine will be available at happy hour rates and there is no corkage fee for BYO wine. Tina has also prepared a range of Coffee/Africa inspired cocktails for the event:
Baileys Espresso Martini
The cost for this fine repast is RM65 with all proceeds to the restaurant, payable on the night. Seats are limited, so please book early. As always, if you do need to cancel, please do so as early as possible so that the seat may be offered to someone else .
