Exploring Neihu: Red House and Bihu Park
For our September outing, let's head to Neihu to check out the recently restored Red House which used to be a Neihu's Mayor House and this year celebrates its hundred year anniversary. It is now a Memorial Hall for the ancestor of the Kuo Family. Tucked away on a hill above all the hustle and bustle of the busy city, it's a lovely place of peace and tranquillity. There is a lot of information inside, although it is all in Chinese. Entrance is free of charge.
Once we have looked around, we could go for a stroll around Bihu Park which boasts a gorgeous lake and some hill walking with lovely views over the city and neighbouring mountains. There are cafes in the vicinity, should anyone want to grab a coffee after all the walking!
Please note there are lots of steps on this outing, although there are plenty of benches too! There are no water machines in the park, so please bring water with you (there is a drinking water fountain though). Needless to say, this event is subject to the weather conditions, given that we are in the midst of the typhoon season!
