Basic Hike to Laguna de Atexcac
Basic Hike to Laguna de Atexcac, formed in the crater of a volcano.
On Saturday December 16th we will drive towards Municipio de Guadalupe Victoria, Puebla (please have breakfast before leaving), here we will meet our host, Ing. Rosendo Cortés, and we’ll head towards Tepeyehualco, Puebla. As soon as we arrive at the Rancho La Unión,where we will be lodged, we will check in and leave our baggage, and immediately start our hike to the Atexcac lagoon.
The lagoon has a beautiful blue color and very high salt content. Swimming is not recommended due to the low temperature and sulfur content. We will hike downhill towards one of the beaches around the lagoon where we’ll have lunch, enjoy the views, and head towards the Rancho. Dinner will be served at the Rancho's Dining room.
On sunday we’ll enjoy breakfast and then drive to visit the lagoons in the area: Atexcac, Alchichica, Quechulac y La Preciosa, and then we will head back to the Rancho for lunch and prepare for our return to Mexico City.
