San Miguel - Medium Level - New Route

Ready to Join?

On this occasion we’ll trek on a different route that will allow having a view of the valley as we ascend Mount Ixtlahutongo. We’ll summit Cerro San Miguel, the highest peak in Desierto de los Leones, in approximately Protected content at a moderate pace. The hike back will take about Protected content .

People eligible for this hike must engage in moderately heavy exercise on a regular basis and require at least some hiking experience, considering the route presents an Protected content gain. The distance is approximately 15 km total.

Please bring with you:

• Warm Jacket and gloves, it’s usually cold and windy at the top of the mountain.
• Hiking boots or shoes.
• 1 to1.5 l. water

• Sunblock, hat and sunglasses.
• Snacks and lunch.

Recommended equipment:

• Trekking poles.

We’ll have breakfast at Doña Lina's restaurant in Desierto de los Leones, and enjoy lunch at the summit.

Unfortunately, signaling is scarce along Mexican hiking routes, so don’t expect us to constantly follow a trail. Any questions please post below!
