Changing Lives in three hours per week... (Addis Ababa)

We're an Addis based UK charity (founded Protected content . Our mission is to turn vulnerable youngsters (often street children and orphans) that are at the same time academically gifted into university graduates. Our carefully selected students are being schooled at one of the leading private high schools in Addis and they live in our own academy style house.

During our 14 years in operation we have supported over Protected content and created, for example, 16 fully qualified medical doctors and over 50 engineers.

The organisation is managed by two volunteers (currently both European).

We are always looking for Addis-based professional volunteers who would like to support our high school students with regular workshops, seminars or career advice. For example we have had quite a few ex-pat spouses who have given extra classes in their spare time, lawyers who have given presentations to our students about the various legal career options in Ethiopia. We also have some amazing women who help our girls with their self-confidence.

If you have a few hours each week – or even just once – and feel you would like to contribute some of your time to our cause please let us know. ( Protected content )

Currently we are particularly interested in someone who could give some tuition in mathematics and english. Also, we'd really like a lawyer, a dentist and an accountant to come and give a talk about their careers.
