buying a car in Amman

Hi all,
I rencently arrived in Amman with wife and kids, and already understood that a car is definitely needed here! I would be interested in finding an SUV (better for safety considering that it might take me time to get used to the driving rules here), but am a bit puzzled about the price range I should look into when it comes to used cars.
Does any of you have an advice on what I should consider, and what would be a good/bad price range?
