Car in Amman

Hey guys,
Will be moving in soon with my wife and four small kids. I wonder how important is to have a vehicle in Amman. You know, it's always useful, yet most cities in the west have decent public transportantion sytem. Please let me know your thoughts.
If the advise is to get a car, I'd appreciate any advise on how to purchase/lease one being an expat.
