Touring Jordan in the Winter? (Amman)

Hi all,
We plan to be in Amman for about a month, starting right before Xmas. Are the popular destinations (i.e. Petra, Jerash) busy during this time of year? Also, are there any seasonal celebrations that we should try and attend?
