a great hotel in A*dam (Amsterdam)

Dear people,

Does anybody know a decent, friendly and cosy hotel in the heart of A*dam?

This April family friends are coming over for a visit. A family of four; mum, dad and two adolescent boys. Anywhere close to town, with something to do and see for the whole lot and last but not least, comfy with affordable prices.

I would be grateful for any tips.
