American Moving to Amsterdam

Good afternoon everyone!

So i stumbled across this forum the other day and thought it would be great to be able to connect with some similar people like myself, so i applied and here i am!

I am recently engaged to a Dutch native, and the future plan is looking like its going to be me moving over there! As excited as i am to experience life in a new country I'm also very nervous about leaving things i have here in the states i.e. debts, family, friends, WORK!

The idea is to come over and apply for an application of extended stay to "start a family" (something like that) and then just go from there. My question to anyone that has done this is - how did this work out for you? What was it like trying to survive not knowing the language? Finding a job, and so forth...

Any advice or support would be helpful!
