August visit to Amsterdam - Should we move

Hi All

I an new to this forum and site. My wife, two daughters and myself will be visiting Amsterdam in August Protected content , with a view to deciding whether we would like to live there permanently.

We currently live in Johannesburg, South Africa and with the challenges the country is facing, we are not sure what the future will hold for our children.

We want to experience "REAL" Amsterdam and possibly meet up with someone who has taken the big step of relocation from one country to Amsterdam.

There is a lot of information on the internet, but a decent lunch discussion might help us really understand what it would be like to live and work there.

I am not sure on the rules of the site, but can anyone:

1. Recommend places to go to get a real feel for the country / lifestyle;
2. Reccomend any formal organisations that we can meet up with to chat about life in Amsterdam in general, or;
3. Give up some time and join us for a brunch / lunch to share their experiences?

i hope the above requests are not inappropriate for the forum.
