Hi,

Last week on the news I heard about this new Expatcenter initiative,
which I would like to share with you all.

Although they have no track record yet, perhaps its sth for prospective
expats coming to Amstedam, I guess the idea is that they assist in getting some
administrative things done in one go, like obtaining a residence permit (Verblijfsvergunning),
arrange for registration with the Amsterdam Townhall (Bevolkingsregister), and things like
obtaining a Dutch driver's license on the basis of a non-Dutch govermental
issued similar permit and other practical matter.

Got the impression they are planning to expand their scope of services in due course.
Anyway, have a look at their website, the below is a copy-past from that.

Welcome to the digital Expatcenter. This website has been specially designed for expats and internationals who are living and working in the cities of Amsterdam or Amstelveen. The aim of this website is to provide expats with a wealth of English-language municipal and practical information for the duration of their stay.

Practical Matters
This website provides you with information on matters affecting you as a foreign employee in the Netherlands. Under the heading “First things first” you will find all the important matters you will need to arrange when you first arrive in the Netherlands, such as registering with your municipality and obtaining a Citizen Service Number.

Daily Life
This website will also provide you with answers to all your questions on daily life in Amsterdam and Amstelveen. Do you need information on health insurance and taxes?

How to apply for a parking permit? Looking for a school for your child? You will find the answers to these questions, and much more throughout the site.

Knowledge Migrants
People from all over the world come to live in the Netherlands for a variety of reasons. If you are a knowledge migrant, you can now complete certain procedures at the Expatcenter in a simplified and more timely procedure.

The Expatcenter is currently being run as a pilot partnership between the Municipalities of Amsterdam and Amstelveen and the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), and a select group of international companies.
