Who we are

We are a dynamic, multicultural and mission-driven healthcare startup, located in the heart of Amsterdam on the beautiful Herengracht.

TheSocialMedwork is a disruptive social enterprise that helps patients gain access to the latest medicines for oncological and neurological disease that have been approved in another country but are not yet available where they live. Medicines which are not available in their own countries. Patients find these medicines via our online platform and contact us to organise the purchase, importing and shipping with help of our expert team of pharmacists, medical doctors, scientists etc.

You are passionate about what TheSocialMedwork does, and ultimately driven by the desire to help patients. You enjoy multi-cultural environments with people from different countries (90% expats). You want to work at an innovative startup with a passion for achieving big goals and overcoming challenges, in a small but fast growing team of people from all corners of the world, who love what they do. You are a good communicator and fluent in English.

The ideal HR Manager for TheSocialMedwork, which operates globally, is a people’s person who embodies multiculturalism. He/she is the go-to person for all employee-related issues. This means that your HR manager duties will involve managing activities such as job postings, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll & talent management. As many of our employees are in direct contact with patients and face difficult emotional situations from time to time, we’re looking for a person who can deal with emotions and stressful situations very well.

The job of the HR manager is key to our business success. People are our most important asset and you’ll be the one to ensure we have a happy and productive workplace where everyone feels at home and gets the most out of his or herself to realize our established mission and objectives. Key responsibilities

Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
Managing the recruitment and selection process
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
Bridge management and employee relations by addressing employee concerns, conflicts or other issues
Nurture a positive working environment
Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance and increases employee tenure
Maintain pay plan and benefits program
Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management

Competencies and Experience

Believe in our mission
Proven working experience as HR manager or other HR executive in a multicultural environment
People oriented and results driven, you are a people’s person
Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
Knowledge of HR systems and databases
Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
In-depth knowledge of Dutch labor law, relevant HR topics for expats, and HR best practices
Degree in Human Resources or related field
Fluent in English both written and speaking
Solid proficiency in Dutch
Work Permit for the Netherlands
Ideally, living in Amsterdam.
