To build out its commercial strategy and strengthen Blackboard’s position in Europe and in particular the German speaking countries, Blackboard International is looking for a Market Development Specialist who will play a key role in demand creation and lead conversion. The candidate will focus on identifying key individuals with targeted senior roles within named organizations, actively reaching out to these individuals, and work with the field sales team in the region to arrange meetings with prospective clients. Secondary activities include driving event attendance and following up and qualifying leads generated from the Blackboard Web site and marketing activities.
The candidate will mainly use telephone and email for these activities. As such, the candidate will play a key role in strengthening the demand generation efforts for Blackboard in primarily Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), and secondarily in the United Kingdom, Benelux and Nordics region. S/he will report to the Senior Director of International Marketing in Amsterdam with a dotted line to the Manager Lead Generation in Raleigh, USA Senior Director of International Marketing in Amsterdam, and will work closely with members of the European sales teams. This position is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The successful candidate must be resourceful, an excellent communicator, persistent, collaborative, and self-starting.
•Identifying key individuals with key roles in named organizations in primarily Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), and secondarily in the United Kingdom, Benelux and Nordics region for improved targeting of marketing and sales activities.
•Reaching out to the identified individuals to introduce Blackboard, provide information, and qualify potential interest and fit with Blackboard’s solutions.
•Scheduling meetings between prospective clients and the field sales team if the lead quality is good, preparing handover notes for the field sales teams
•Following up on leads generated through the Blackboard Web site and marketing activities to determine the quality and the appropriateness of setting up a meeting with the field sales team.
•Recruit customers and prospects for Blackboard organized events, tradeshows, and webinars
•Provide detailed information via email and phone to marketing and sales reps as to campaign efficacy, prospect interest and customer needs
•Answer incoming calls and follow proper Blackboard protocol
•Become knowledgeable on Blackboard’s solutions and services, including value propositions and competitive differentiators and be able to emphasize value, service or product features and benefits, to prospective clients.
•Help develop and refine (cold) calling scripts for following up on leads and scheduling meetings with the field sales teams

•Degree in sales, marketing, business, or related field.
•1 to 2 years of relevant (inside) sales experience preferably working in a B2B industry, technology vendor, or the research arena. Experience in the education industry is a plus.
•Fluency in speaking and writing German and English required.
•Proactive communicator with effective organization and time management skills.
•Knowledge of Salesforce.com is a plus.
•This is a full-time role though part-time is an option.
•EU passport or valid Dutch residency permit required.
