At the first Shanghai Get-Together I met several American expats. I am very grateful that they shared their experience with me.

Living in Anyang

The beautiful city of Anyang is sometimes called the birthplace of ancient Chinese culture. As one of the eight ancient capitals of China, it truly is a city steeped in history. Human settlement goes back to the Stone Age and there is plenty of evidence of its long history for expats with a penchant for the past to discover. The Tianning Si, for example, is a beautiful mansion temple that should be on every international visitor's itinerary, as should the Literature Peak Pagoda situated on the temple’s grounds. The city is a large one, with a population of over five million, two million of whom live in the city proper. Nestled at the foot of the Taihang Mountains, it benefits from scenic surroundings and good transport connections. Expats living in Anyang can also enjoy a moderate continental monsoon climate, a good variety of restaurants and a busy nightlife.
