New here... info needed! (Athens)

Hello everybody! :)
I am a girl from Madrid, Spain and I just got a job in Athens, and I will be moving there next week (yes, everything has been pretty fast!), so I haven't had time to check information about the city, and how things works there... I have never actually been to Greece before!
The company I will be working for is located in the Kallithea area. Is it a nice area to live as well? Because I was adviced to try to live as near to my workplace as possible.
Will I need a plug adaptor for my computer, hair-dryer, etc?

Any information related to the city, renting an appartment, etc would be really welcome!
