Residency and Best Expat Community (Athens)

My family and I are planning a move to Greece. I am an Irish citizen and my husband and two daughters (ages 5 & 6) are American citizens. Has anyone gone through the residency process that could comment on the ease or difficulty of us becoming residents? Also, does anyone know the best area in Greece, along the coast, for expats? Thank you!!
