How to find a job pre arrival? (Auckland)

I am set to move over towards the end of Protected content , does anyone have any tips on job hunting? I am in the HR field. I have emailed some recruitment agencies and already had some positive feedback( I am not used to this, I am coming from France, where the jobs market is like a desert).

If any one has any tips etc? I am looking around Auckland? anywhere really, I will be living in Waiheke Island and intend to commute.
