English Language in Bail, etc. (Bali)

Hi,

I may be taking a job with my organization that will allow me to live in Bali. I would do a lot of travel within southeast Asia from there. I've got a couple questions:

1) Can one get by well in Bali with English? I'll likely be there about Protected content and am in my late 50's so I don't assume I will be able to pickup much of the local language.
2) how difficult is it to get a work permit? My work will be regional but I will also do a bit of work for our office in Indonesia.
3) Income tax is 35?
