Proof of Canadian Citizenship Certificate (Bangalore)

Hi,
My daughter is 9 weeks old and was born here in India. I'm a Canadian citizen and according to high commission of Canada she's eligible to become a Canadian citizen. My question is, can I apply for a Citizenship Certificate even if she holds an Indian passport? Also, once the certificate comes in, can I then surrender the Indian passport and apply for a Canadian passport?
