Arriving in Bangkok August 15th

Hello All,
My wife and I are moving to Bangkok looking for work either with NGO's or International Schools. We recently finished working with the Peace Corps in Botswana, Africa and wanted to continue working outside the U.S.
Neither of us have ever visited or lived in Thailand before and would appreciate any and all advise, also we're looking to meet up with people just to chat or grab a coffee with.
