Best town for me to live in Thailand? (Bangkok)

Hi - not currently in Thailand but wondering which might be the best town for me to live in Thailand... I like being 1) close to nature, 2) comfortable climate and 3) low cost of living. (Tourist centers like Pattaya are sheer hell for me.) Being within 3 hours by bus to BKK would have benefits, but I am not opposed to living further. I work remotely from my computer, but would need to spend a considerable amount of time in BKK (e.g. 1 week of every 6 weeks).

Suggestions welcome! (I have a number of points of comparison, as I have recently lives or worked in Indon, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar.)
