Going out in Bangkok

Hi everyone

I'll be in Bangkok next week, my first time ever in the city (first trip to Thailand too!) and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in maybe going out one evening? Perhaps to a bar or something? I keep reading about all these exciting rooftop bars with spectacular views of the city, best enjoyed at sundown with a drink in your hand, that sort of thing!

Or are there any InterNations events during that time where I could tag along? I'll be sightseeing all day which I have no problem doing on my own but going out alone is really boring!

I'll be in town from 17th to 22nd March staying at the Sofitel in Silom area.
