INTERNATIONS IN BANGKOK
Daniel and I welcome you to one of the most dynamic and fastest growing communities of InterNations. We are very friendly here in Banglok and we take care of each other at all of our gatherings, large and small, virtual or in real life. Please come up to your ambassadors anytime you feel out of place, and we will do our best to help you.
Two key rules at our events:
1. Don't let anyone stand alone (unless they really want to)
2. Show respect.
Diversity is golden in InterNations Bangkok, although our members do tend to be: intelligent, open-minded, employed in interesting and responsible jobs, and well spoken. Thus conversations can be very enlightening and engaging. Go deep, remain light, whatever you like, but do keep the respect in mind at each encounter.
InterNations HQ has given some guidance to Ambassadors, and here is how we would like to interpret it in Bangkok.
1.) Official InterNations Bangkok events: They are organized by our Ambassadors and promoted to all members of our community.
YOUR AMBASSADORS WORK AS VOLUNTERS TO MAKE YOUR STAY ENJOYABLE. IF YOU GIVE US TOO MUCH GRIEF, YOU WILL OWE US SOME DRINKS. HELP BY VOLUNTEER MEMBERS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AT MONTHLY EVENTS, AND YOU WILL MAKE NEW FRIENDS FAST.
2.) InterNations activity group events: These are organized by Group Consuls without any commercial gain for the organizing member.
FOR THE PURPOSE OF MEETING OTHER INTERNATIONS MEMBERS: DANCING, DINING, CONCERTS, MOVIES, SPORTS, VISITS TO MUSEUMS AND ART GALLERIES, OR TRIPS TO THE BEACH.
3.) Events organized by our members with a commercial gain for the member, and posted in the Bangkok Forum Threads.
NOT OK! IF YOU ARE JUST USING THE INTERNATIONS PLATFORM FOR COMERCIAL GAIN, INSTEAD OF FRIENDSHIP, WE WILL DELETE THE POSTS.
4.) Public events: sometimes posted in the forum (Madonna concert, theatre show, etc.) as a personal invitation, or as an FYI to fellow members.
SOMETIMES OK IF THE POSTING OFFERS SPECIAL ENTRY OR TICKET PRICE TO INTERNATIONS MEMBERS THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO ANY OTHER GROUP, AND AGAIN, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FRIENDSHIP, NOT JUST MARKETING.
BEST DONE WITHIN AN ACTIVITY GROUP, AND ORGANISED FOR GROUP MEMBERS TO GO ENJOY TOGETHER.
BUT REMEMBER THAT WE ARE NOT A FREE NEWSLETTER ONLINE. CONCERT ORGANIZERS SHOULD TAKE ADS (and we are happy to get the current rates for you from the Munich office)
5.) Events from other networks (XING, asw, facebook etc.)
PLEASE USE OUR PLATFORM FOR INTERNATIONS ACTIVITIES.
WE ARE A SOCIAL NETWORK, NOT A FREE MEDIA PLATFORM.
WE DO NOT SUPPORT COMPETING SOCIAL NETWORKING GROUPS, PLS DON'T USE THE INTERNATIONS PLATFORM TO ADVERTISE THEIR EVENTS.
OTHER GROUPS MAY NOT RECRUIT MEMBERS AT OFFICIAL INTERNATIONS EVENTS. PLEASE DO YOUR HUNTING ELSEWHERE.
Private postings for the purpose of gathering friends to do something with you, like art showings, museum exhibitions, concerts, etc. are great for personal invitations by members for members, for friendship: "Let's go to the art gallery..." Or I get into town on Saturday, let's grab a drink at..."
InterNations is a network of trust. The event calendar is a place where your Bangkok Ambassadors, Activity Group Consuls, and Group Members can post social events.
"InterNations reserves the right to remove event posts that overtly promote commercial purposes, advertise other networking ventures, or that we consider inappropriate in nature."
