Living & working in Bangkok

My wife (Chinese) and I (Swiss & Thai) are planning to move to Bangkok.
We will be looking for jobs and housing in the first place.
So far we have heard that the districts Siam and Ratchathewi are recommended living areas for expats. We are wondering if anybody could tell us more and perhaps gives some advice or leads to find a one or two room apartment. Preferably one we can rent and maybe later could buy.
Since my wife is working for a Chinese travel agency in China, has studied English and speaks Mandarin, she is looking to work for a travel agency in Bangkok.
I am working in the Netherlands as a sales account manager. My main experience and expertise lies in the telecom and automotive market. I speak Dutch, German and English. I am looking for a job preferably in the same business. However I am very open to do something different e.g. business administration, tour operator, teacher, consultant. Basically anything where my experience and skills would be of added value to any organisation.
We appreciate any feedback or comments!
