Swiss National Public Radio (SRF) has opened a new bureau in Bangkok

Swiss National Public Radio (SRF) is a publicly funded and publicly controlled non-governmental organization. It has no commercial purpose; it is dedicated to accurate and balanced information. SRF has opened a new bureau in Bangkok in April Protected content . We are seeking suitably qualified candidates for the position of stringer/researcher/assistant (English/Thai). The full time position is partly office based, partly home based and will include travel, research and administrative work.
Jobs Description
o Translate on research trips in Thailand and in daily journalistic work in Bangkok
o Suggest proactively stories and interview partners from all over the South East Asia
o Research stories and gather analysis on economic, political and social affairs from South East Asia
o Send daily press reviews from all over South East Asia
o Prepare research trips (book hotels, flight tickets etc.), background news material etc.
o Find stringers for research trips in other South East Asian countries
o Provide contact information of experts and maintain relationships with external agencies etc.
o Update the address lists
o Collect and deliver required documents from ministries/Embassies and other organizations
o Occasional transcription of soundbites
o Complete expenses
o Schedule meetings with interview partners

Qualifications
o At least Protected content as a journalist/stringer, preferably with international media experience
o Strong journalistic instincts, analytical skills and an ability to work under pressure
o Proactive in suggesting stories and interview partners
o Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English and Thai; Burmese or other South East Asian language skills are a plus
o Good knowledge of political, economic and social affairs in South East Asia, particularly in Thailand
o A university degree or equivalent experience
o Knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress or Excel
o An existing social media profile with a strong network of journalist/editor contacts and sources
o Reliable and flexible with proven experience of working in a small team
