Moving to Bangkok

Hi Everyone,
I am considering moving to Bangkok, I am Irish, 27, very healthy lifestyle. I am as fair skinned as they come and would not be the biggest fan of the heat.
Is the heat in BKK as excruciating as it sounds? I have quite an active lifestyle , playing soccer, beach sports etc, but is any of this possible in BKK? It sounds like the heat is awful?
Can anyone tell me more about their experience and if I am overreacting.
On that point, I have also been warned of the pollution. My GF is an asthmatic , will she be ok?
