Quiet place in Thailand without much smoke? (Bangkok)

Hi - I'm on a working holiday for a couple of weeks in Thailand, and am hoping to find somewhere quiet with wifi to do some focused research and writing for work.

I'm now in Pai, north of Chiang Mai, which is nice (lots of places to eat, lots of greenery, not bad for walking) but it's quite smoky, and that doesn't agree with me or my sinuses.

I'm thinking of cutting my time in Pai short and heading back to Chiang Mai, but also wondering if there is an idyllic part of rural Thailand where people aren't burning their fields?
