Safety (Bangkok)

Hello everyone,
I will be travelling to Bangkok early next year. I know in general Thailand is a safe place to travel, but now with all those riots on I wonder about safety.
how do you perceive the situation at the moment??
Where do you recomend me not to go?
How are the parts of Thailand? I heard there aare things going on in Phuket?
where else?
