The bang na Area (Bangkok)

Hi, looks like I am moving with my family to Bangkok and most likely the Bang na area. I am fairly familiar with the facilities in the sukhumvit region but not so much in Bang na. I understand there are some shopping venues but apart from that I don't now too much about the area. Any advice on - restaurants, bars, shopping, family days out, parks... etc would be greatly appreciated!
