Transportation in Bangkok

Hello All,

I'll be moving to Bangkok to start a job in less than a month. I'll be working in Bangkholaem and crashing in a company apartment for a month or until I find my own place in...I have no idea what part of the city! :-)

My question is: How do you guys get around? BTS? Does anyone ride a bicycle? I'm moving from a very bike-friendly city (Key West, Florida!) and wondering if the city is too spread out/dangerous/other reason for cycling as transportation?

Was giving half a thought to shipping my bike because, when I was living in India I remember it being impossible to find a decent bike.
