City of Thieves and Muggers (Barcelona)

Just a quick note to tell everyone to be very careful walking in the small streets in Barceloneta and the Born at night. Last night two youths tried to mug me with a knife in the Born(Riberia) area, Carrer San Pere Mes Baix. Fortunately I was sober and saw it coming, one guy asked me for a cigarette and was trying to block my way while the other came up behind with a knife. I just ran away from them.

Advise all your friends and people visiting to stay to the main streets and avoid small roads. Take a taxi if you have to traverse any of these areas.

This is the 3rd event this week, I know 2 other people who have been robbed.

The thieves are obviously getting desperate when they are using weapons and attacking sober individuals.
