Mosquitoes in Barcelona?

Hola, my wife and I are thinking of moving from San Francisco, California, USA to Barcelona in the future.

My wife is very allergic to mosquito bites, so we are wondering if there are many mosquitoes in Barcelona? If so, are they only around in the summer? Which months are the worst (July and August...or May through September...or year round)? Are there any particular areas in and around Barcelona you would recommend living in that have the least mosquitoes? Any main areas you would recommend not living in due to mosquitoes? Any other tips for avoiding mosquitoes in Barcelona and the surrounding area?
