Spanish bank-account without NIE number (Barcelona)

Hi,

To apply for my NIE number I want to deposit some money on a Spanish bank account so I can show a Spanish bank bank statement showing that I have enough money to stay here the upcoming months.

Is there anyone that has experience with this action? Asking around and looking on other forums did not gave me any satisfying answers. So I'm hoping someone can send me in the right direction before I go visiting banks the upcoming week.
