Coming to Beijing

Hi everyone,

I am looking to relocate to Beijing in the next couple of months and am just looking for some qualified info on living there. I would probably be able to spend approx Protected content a month on rent which I expect could get me a decent room in a shared apartment? I would probably want to live close to the Chaoyang district which I believe is quite central.

Also know that food and cost of living is generally pretty cheap if you eat at local places etc. If you could point out the exceptions I would appreciate it. I guess that being relatively sociable will work against me as drinking can be expensive? Another is gym memberships, expensive? cheap? or located in most buildings?

Any other info would be greatly appreciated!
