Good ideas for Spring Festival? (Beijing)

Hi all

After a long and frustrating search for flights out of the country I have admitted defeat and resigned to staying in Beijing over Chinese New Year.

Now the idea of spending a full 7 days in my appartment watching all the movies I've missed over the years just doesn't sound exciting enough for me, but I honestly have no idea what's there to be done over the festival that doesn't involve a) huge crowds of people or b) being outside in the cold for too long.

Alternatively I'm still looking for quick getaway ideas that don't involve flights for 5'000RMB.

Having a week off should actually be fun rather than a pain in the a@#, I'm not giving up the idea of doing something or going somewhere - so what are your plans?
